Another common question concerns the lack of a finalized product. A client may ask me,

How do I get around the fact that I really don’t have a product yet? I’ve built an opt-in list but don’t feel like I know what to offer them exactly.

You can actually use launch techniques to figure out what to offer your list members! What do I mean?

Simply ask the list. Take a conversational tone and ask them. You could say something like, “If you could ask me anything about this topic, what would it be?”

Here’s the overall game plan:

Build a mailing list.

Develop a good relationship with the list.

Find out what they want or need by asking them to take a survey.

Create the product they want.

Tell your list that you’ve got the solution.

Launch the product.

Get paid and deliver your product.

Ask for feedback.

Relaunch the product.

That’s the launch cycle. As you see, the idea is to let your audience tell you how you can best serve them. That way, they get a product they really want and need.

The answer is that a product launch would indeed work very well for hard goods. Whatever type of “widget” you are selling, you can use product launch techniques to create anticipation and desire for the product.

Here’s one of my best tips. A clever way to create scarcity for a physical product that you sell all the time is to bundle it with a special product that is available only for a limited time. That let’s you create an event out of the marketing campaign. I like to create an information product (perhaps a set of “how-to” videos, for example) that compliments or enhances the widget you are selling.

I’ll start with one that I get from many entrepreneurs:

What exactly is a Product Launch and how can it help me?

Simply put, a product launch is a way of creating a high amount of demand for your product such that when the product is finally available, you generate an amazing number of sales. It can kick start your business and ensure you a loyal following of customers.

A product launch is done through a carefully orchestrated series of contacts with the people on your list. Each email they read or video that they watch builds anticipation for the release of your product. Your audience gets to know your story and, by the end of the marketing sequence, are actually begging you to let them buy your product.

Hard to believe? Contact me today and I’ll tell you a couple of stories that will both enlighten and amaze you.
